Classic Spanish Sangria (Sparkling)

Parent Note (Up)

Volume

~3L of sangria.

Ingredients

- 2 Bottles (1500ml) of full bodied red wine (Garnacha or Pinot Noir is recommended)
- 2 Pears
- 1 Apple
- ~650-700ml of lime juice (plain & sweet, any brand)
- ~650-700ml of Sprite or 7UP

Other Requirements

- Knife to cut fruits
- Large vessel (3L+ to mix)

Steps to Prepare

1. Set the Sangria

  1. Wash the fruits. Then cut 2 pears and 1 apple into small cube like pieces.

  2. Pour the 2 bottles of red wine into a large vessel and add ~650-700ml of lime juice to the vessel and mix well.

  3. Add all of the cut fruits to the liquid in the large vessel and stir well to ensure each piece gets dunked into the wine a few times.

  4. Place the large vessel in the fridge over night, and allow the fruits to soak. If the sangria is to be served the same day, a few hours is advisable for soaking. But 15 minutes of soaking should work in case of a rush.

2. Serve the Sangria

  1. While serving, ensure that 3/4 of the glass (volume which will be filled, not entire glass volume) is filled with the mixture of wine, lime juice and fruits. Ensure that the consistency of fruits in each glass is the same as that in the larger vessel.

  2. Fill the remaining 3/4 of the glass with Sprite / 7UP. Thus the ratio of the soaked mixture to Sprite should be 3:1. Serve with a spoon / fork in the glass, for the fruits.
